PlasFree Ghana is a community-driven organization committed to developing communities by reducing the effects of plastic. They provide sustainable end to end solutions to the Ghanian plastic waste challenges by setting up waste sorting centers, that buy plastic waste of plastic pickers and start the recycling process.
The project aims to empower women and youth from socially and economically disadvantaged groups by offering them continuous employment and means by contributing to plastic waste solutions. In addition to the financial gains, the contribution to the household income supports their self-esteem and equal domestic decision making, as economic empowerment is hence a prerequisite for actual equality.
By incentivizing cleanups the project will lead to a cleaner environment, which is crucial to low-income groups as they usually directly depend on their close natural environment for their daily survival. Homeless individuals engaged in the project will find accommodation at the centers. Taking people off the streets and providing work will lower crime rates. To support locals in escaping from poverty, financial literacy, as well as drug-related training, will be provided at the centers.

The plastic waste menace in Ghana has become an albatross on the neck of city authorities with Accra being the highest receiver of its effects.Accra suffers from flooding each year which has been linked to plastic waste choking our drainages, gutters etc
Plasfree Ghana is a social enterprise that is into plastic waste recovery for recycling. As a social enterprise we give opportunity to the uneducated, single mothers, the less privileged, adults, youth, coastal dwellers, street children etc who under normal circumstances wouldn’t get the opportunity to work in a formal/corporate organisation to pick plastic waste on beaches, landfills, communities, schools etc.,wash LDPE, delabel, sort and bag PET for cash to earn a living.we are deliberate about the people we select to work for us to contribute our quota to zero hunger and poverty, women empowerment, equal opportunities and improve life undersea and land through sanitation and to promote peace and security by giving jobs to people who would have ended up on the street to reduce crime.
We began with clean up exercises, education of schools since 2018 but officially registered in May, 2019
We have worked with a number of adults, youth, coastal dwellers, street children, single mothers, the less privileged, the uneducated etc.For the category of people we work with, most of them are not on social media
