The first #WVPcommunity leader we are grateful to have connected with, has seen the plastic bottle pollution fill the rivers for years, and is doing something about it!
These motivated world citizens, Forbi alongside a group of peers, have collected thousands of pounds of plastic from river beds and the environment otherwise bound for the nearby ocean.
The nearest recycling collection centers will not make the drive to collect, leaving Forbi and his support team to upcycle and use the plastic bottles anyway they can to eliminate it from entering the environment as waste.

I am the third born in my family and I have 4 siblings. I come from a very humble background with my family engaged in subsistence agriculture. I am currently studying environmental science and occupational health and safety at the University of Buea Cameroon where I hope to obtain a bachelor of science degree. My passion is for the environment and ocean, and It’s been challenging to mix my community volunteerism and school work. Sometimes time management is a problem to me and setting my priorities right. I don’t work or have any form of income so sponsoring my campaigns and community work is difficult considering the limited resources available. Due to my consistency in doing cleanups , together with some youths in the community, we had over 7000 plastic bottles with no recycling company around. The closest is over 2hours drive away. So I have had those plastic bottles in my keeping for a long time.
Walking on the streets of my town and other cities in my country, I realized that plastic bags and bottles were littered all around with the majority found in drainage and local waterways. This pushed me to do some research on the internet on the impact of plastics on the environment. Information about the devastating effects of plastics on marine organisms and land motivated me to take personal initiatives to start picking up plastic litter.
I have worked with over 1000 youths in my community in different cleanup campaigns
